The government is gradually encouraging the development of environmentally friendly energy. This is in line with the government's efforts to reduce exhaust emissions that damage the environment. At the same time encouraging the use of non-fossil energy as a source of energy for the future.

"The government will continue to encourage the use of environmentally friendly energy that we do have. The potential for environmentally friendly energy is very large in the country. Abundant and able to provide great economic benefits in the future, "said Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Dr. Ego Syahrial when giving a speech opening the 2019/2020 Academic Year Lecture at the UMB campus, Jakarta, Thursday (August 29, 2019).

The use of environmentally friendly energy, according to Ego Syahrial is the right decision and has an extraordinary impact on Indonesia's future. Because the potential for environmentally friendly energy is abundant. So it is very appropriate to be used.

Data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, he firmly said the potential of renewable energy that has been utilized is only two percent. The details are: geothermal energy has a potential resource of 11.0 GW, saves 17.5 GW, realization of PLTP 1,949 GW (0.44 percent); water energy has a potential of 75 GW (19.3 GW), the realization of a 5.124 GW hydropower plant and 0.216 GW PLTMH (1.21 percent); bioenergy energy has the potential of PLT Bio 32.6 GW, BBN 200 thousand Bph, the realization of Bio PLT 1.840 GW (0.42 percent); wind energy has a potential of 60.6 GW, 76.1 MW of PLTB realization (0,0002 percent); solar energy has a potential PLTS 207.8 GWP, PLTS 0.090 GWP realization (0.02 percent); and marine energy has a potential of 17.9 GW but none has been utilized.

"Through this opportunity I hope that UMB students can become the pioneers of environmentally friendly energy users. He even became an environmentally friendly energy optimization actor through science, "he added.

The opening of the 2019/2020 Academic Year Lecture was joined by thousands of new students. By presenting a number of important speakers, including the Commander of the Kodam Jaya and the Head of LLDIKTI region III Jakarta. This activity hopes to be able to hone students' knowledge and awareness of various national problems that need solutions.
